If you've ever wanted to hike close to an active volcano, then this is your trip! Lassen Volcanic National Park is located in the famous "Ring of Fire", and is home to all four types of volcanoes, not to mention boiling lakes, mud pots, fumaroles and hot springs. This park will surely help you understand that geologic time includes Now! Join us for a seven day adventure and discover this seldom visited jewel of the northern Sierra Nevada.
Lakes, lakes and more lakes! Backpack through lush forest and camp next to a new lake every night. You'll be surprised to day hike over black and red fields of lava rock that spread out for miles. Climb to the top of a cinder cone where just 90 years ago the last eruption occurred! Never fear, for all is quiet now, and it's the perfect time to visit this wonderland, which is covered in snow 9 months out of the year. Try your hand at catch and release fishing, or look for black bear paw prints next to the lakeshore.
Lassen will leave you wanting more than you'll get on this weeklong adventure.
