Backpack along the rugged Lost Coast in Humboldt County's Kings Range National Conservation Area. The Kings Range is unique because it represents one of the few coastlines in America where humans have had very little impact.
This 25 mile hike along the beach starts at the north and ends at Shelter Cove, the prevailing Northwestern winds at your back taking you through the heart of where the redwoods meet the ocean.
The Punta Gorda Lighthouse will draw your attention on the first day and relics of early shipwrecks can be explored and spark your imagination. Get in touch with the tides as you brave one of the wildest stretches of coastline in California.
While backpacking along this amazing coastline we will keep a lookout for birds and ocean dwelling animals playing in the waves. The Lost Coast is also host to an abundance of wildflowers and edible plants. Trip leaders will help you identify these tasty treats.
