Lifeschool Class Trips 2006

This Lifeschool adventure begins in the beautiful city of Seattle where we will gather our group and any last minute supplies including a quick trip to REI's flagship store. Those who wish to tackle the Pinnacle rock-climbing wall will not be disappointed by the view at the top.

We then head North to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands for a 3-day sea kayaking journey in one of Washington's most beautiful natural areas.

The San Juans are home to three pods of amazing Orca whales and if our timing is right, we might get a very close up look. We will also explore the inter-tidal zones for smaller sea-life and some of the biggest sea stars you have ever seen. Bald Eagles can also be spotted frequently in-between paddle strokes.

After kayaking for three days we will load up on the ferry once again for a ride to the mainland for showers and re-supplying before trading our paddles for backpacks.

We are then off to explore the wilds of Olympic National Park. This expansive park is home to the only temperate rainforest in the United States. Previous trip participants have experienced black bears and several very friendly deer while trekking through lush green forests. Forage for wild blackberries and huckleberries all the way to your campsite!

Seize the opportunity to hike to Anderson Pass and see a rapidly disappearing Glacier before it's too late. Swim in an invigorating river everyday to relax and soak your hard working feet, while enjoying views of the surrounding mountain tops.

The end of this journey will bring you back full circle to Seattle, where we will cap off the trip with cruising Pikes Fish Market and experiencing some true Seattle culture and food before catching your flight back home. A great mix of kayaking, backpacking, and local culture…the Pacific Northwest is an adventurer's dream.
